On-Scene Crash Investigation is a class that focuses on the fundamentals of responding to vehicular crashes. The class covers a wide range of topics including:
- the identification and preservation of critical evidence.
- on-scene safety measures.
- recording and measuring evidence through diagrams and photography.
- post-crash vehicle inspections.
Participants will learn how to identify and document evidence related to a crash including:
- skid marks
- vehicle damage
- debris patterns
- direction of vehicles involved in the crash
- road conditions and weather at the time of the crash.
The class will also cover the importance of post-crash vehicle inspections, including identifying potential defects or malfunctions that may have contributed to the collision.
This class is focused for the officer who is tasked with scene preservation at minor or serious crashes and has either not been active in crash reporting or needs refresher training to build confidence. This course is a basic level course and not intended to train officers as a crash reconstructionist.
POST Hours are approved for 6 hours of POST Credit
Cost is $99 per person.
