1967. Foundation
The Commission on Higher Education in collaboration with the Governor’s Traffic Safety Coordinating Committee established the Missouri Safety Center on July 1, 1967.
1970s. Goal Setting
Dr. Robert Marshall creates the goals of the Missouri Safety Center including coordination with professional organizations, expansion of programs, and promotion of interdisciplinary activities.
1980s. U.S. Department of Energy
Missouri Safety Center serves as the primary contractor providing training in fuel conservation and fleet safety.
1990s. Mission Statement
Dr. Leanna Depue establishes the Mission Statement of the Missouri Safety Center.
2011. UCM Realignment
UCM realigns the Missouri Safety Center under the Harmon College of Business and Professional Studies. The transition includes Center oversight of the Central Missouri Police Academy (CMPA).
2018. Fiscal Management
The Missouri Safety Center becomes 100% funded through grant revenue, fee-based services, and the CMPA.

Missouri Peace Officer & Standards Training (POST) Licensed Provider of Continuing Education for Law Enforcement. Public training and traffic safety to include driver’s education, defensive driving, motorcycle safety, instructor development, and more.
Research
Data collection, analysis, and reporting on occupant protection surveys for state and federal reporting.
Public Service
Annual host of the Missouri High School High Mileage Challenge; Support for Whiteman Air Force Base Safety Days; Board participation for the Law Enforcement Traffic Safety Advisory Council (LETSAC) and Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety subcommittees.
